Health hazards of the acai berry

There are not many health hazards associated with the acai berry.

There have been discoveries, however, of the Chagas disease which was caused by consuming berries contaminated by feces from Brazilian parasites.

To date, Chagas disease has only been diagnosed in Latin America. The parasite the it comes from uses small animals as hosts.

Disease symptoms include fever, nausea, muscle pains, and sometimes swelling.
